LA 2009: Audi R8 Spyder is shown again, this time in red
This isn't the first time we've seen the drop-top Audi R8 Spyder. Images were leaked in early September, and we were there in Frankfurt for its official debut. That said, its unveiling at the LA Auto Show was less than climactic... other than the fact the Spyder was sporting a flashy bright-red bodywork. New hue aside, the new convertible variant is a looker from its carbon-fiber mirrors to polished aluminum wheels. The blades are gone and it has gained 476 pounds in the transformation, but the standard Lambo-derived 525-hp V10 will ... Read more →

The 2010 model year marks the last run of the 600-hp Dodge Viper. To keep performance (and consumer interest) high for the next 12 months, the automaker is adding new colors, enhancing performance and releasing several limited-edition models. Standard Viper SRT10 models receive two new ...
LA Preview: 2011 Ford Mustang V6 makes 305 HP, gets 30 MPG 3 days ago on Autoblog
It would be reasonable to expect that Ford might pass over the Mustang and instead devote more attention to its other models since it's fresh off a comprehensive revamp for the 2010 model year. However, that's not what is shaping up in the House That Henry Built. For 2011, the Blue Oval is ...
Spy Shots: New BMW 6 Series cabrio caught, reveals no more flying buttresses 5 days ago on Autoblog
It looks like the lakes around Arvidsjaur Sweden have frozen early this year and the engineers from Munich have hit the ice already. The current generation BMW 6 Series has been one of the company's more controversial designs of the past decade, along with the previous-generation 7 Series and Z4. ...

Pics Aplenty: 9ff Speed9 takes Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio to the next level 6 days ago on Autoblog
As we discovered earlier this month, the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo is one heck of a fast car. The quickest Porsche has ever produced, in fact. So it would take considerable moxie to try and improve on it. Fortunately, 9ff has such moxie, as demonstrated with the company's new Speed9. We brought ...
Rumormill: Toyota MR2 to be reborn with hybrid power 6 days ago on Autoblog
Tell us if this sounds familiar: Hybrids will kill the driver-oriented sportscar. It's the line taken by no small share of enthusiasts, and some of them are among us here at Autoblog. But the skeptics were silenced – or temporarily hushed, at least – when Honda took the wraps off of ...

If you love the spirit of SEMA but tend to lean towards more European tastes, Essen is the show for you. The annual aftermarket show in Germany always brings out an enticing crop of European tuner cars, and 9ff isn't about to let it go by without making its mark. The Porsche tuner is hitting ...
Pics Aplenty: Porsche Boxster Spyder 13 days ago on Autoblog
Porsche drivers don't like waiting. That's why they buy a Porsche, after all. So while a few weeks might not seem like a long time for most people, to a Porsche driver used to rocketing to 60 miles per hour in four-point-right-now seconds, the span of weeks must seem like an eternity. ...
Quick Spin: Superformance MKIII R Cobra kickstarts our hearts 14 days ago on Autoblog
It's mea culpa time. While it's probably best not to begin a review with an apology, I'd be fairly derelict in my auto bloggin' duty if I didn't admit that not only does this review represent my first time in a Cobra – ever – but that I went in wanting to love the car. After all, not ...

VIDEO: Jeremy Clarkson drifts a Jaguar XKR Convertible... in flippers 16 days ago on Autoblog
We missed the first part of this skit, as the video you're about to watch isn't from Top Gear, but rather from JC's newest DVD Dual Duel. Still, it does feature the Stig. And some ridiculous-yet-somehow-jealousy-inducing car-antics. Apparently, Jezza bragged that the Jag is such an easy to ...

Last week, we all watched in collective awe as a $1.8 million Bugatti Veyron drove into a pond. Instead, there's just a supercar inexplicably jumping into a ...

Review: 2009 Aston Martin DB9 Volante makes getting away with it half all the fun 22 days ago on Autoblog
Let's say a clandestine organization asked you, for your country, to "take care of" an enemy of the state at tonight's performance of Tosca at The Met. And let's say this organization gave you the choice of any Aston Martin in which to conduct the evening. Which Aston would you choose? If you ...
Turn the Dodge Viper logo upside down and guess who appears... 23 days ago on Autoblog
Stonehenge, Rosebud, The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd – all have confounded us with their hidden meanings. And to that list we now add the logo for the Dodge Viper. Somehow it has eluded us for years that, when turned upside down, the Viper logo turns into what appears to be... Daffy Duck. ...
VIDEO: Bewerp Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS actually takes to the road sidewalk 23 days ago on Autoblog
Fittingly, it appears that the Bewerp Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS went for a cruise on Halloween night, which would give passers-by the perfect opportunity to ask the driver, "What kind of costume is that?" He could've replied, "I'm dressed up as the driver of the only 600-horsepower, ...
SEMA 2009: Knee-high tri-axle pickup by Air-Zenith is down and (not so) dirty 26 days ago on Autoblog
We're not exactly sure what this used to be in its former life, but it all kinds of cool in its current iteration. Just knee-high to a Hobbit, this six-wheel convertible was parked in the shadow of Bigfoot and we almost tripped over it. We were able to locate an Air-Zenith banner on the ...

Seven new Porsche models reportedly due over next four years... could there be more? 27 days ago on Autoblog
It doesn't seem that long ago that Porsche was a two-car company. But since then, the German automaker has come out with the Cayenne and the Panamera, taking it into new territory – for better or worse. Now that it's part of the Volkswagen Group, sources expect Porsche to begin expanding its ...
LA Preview: Porsche reveals new lightweight Boxster Spyder [w/VIDEO] 27 days ago on Autoblog
We're less than a month away from the LA Auto Show, which means that automakers are starting to dribble out some of what we'll be seeing there. The gang from Zuffenhausen will be rolling out a new lightweight edition of the Boxster dubbed "Spyder" especially for those who live where the sun ...
SEMA 2009: Lexus F-Sports sitting in the sun 27 days ago on Autoblog
It's tempting to dismiss Lexus' F-Sport as a direct Audi S-Line rip off. But unlike Audi's visual-only appearance upgrades, F-Sport actually offers some performance (intake, exhaust, brakes, etc.), handling and exterior body mods. Advantage, Lexus. And we like the Yakuza-y stance of this GS ...
Chrysler to launch four Special Editions in first quarter of 2010 28 days ago on Autoblog
Much has been made of Chrysler's apparent lack of new products for the 2010 model year. Suffice it to say, while there are big things in store for Chrysler, they will take at least another year to get into production. For instance, while removing the unsightly strakes from the hood of the ...
SEMA 2009: A trio of modded Lexus customs drop their tops 28 days ago on Autoblog
While it might be tempting to dismiss the Lexus C (either the 250 or 350) as a bustled buttocksed luxury faux-sports car, Lexus implanted enough good handling (in the 250 C) and/or POWA! (in the 350 C) to make 'em pretty much OK in our book. Still, this is SEMA -- pretty much OK is never even ...
