Really? looks like perforated vinyl to me, same stuff they use for ad wraps on buses and promotional vehicles.
I could be wrong but I dont think that perforated metal would do very well directly on top of glass.
I couldnt find any specific info on Stangnet.com so I hope that Autoblog didnt just make this part up.

My thoughts exactly. I'd expect flexing to scratch the hell out of the glass if it were perforated metal.
It's probably the best tunerfied 'stang I've seen in a while.
