How do you know you've got too much money? When you spend a chunk of it on something like this. The leather Bentley key case is one thing, but this ... this operates on a level all its own.
This shift knob, made for Bentley by IcedOutEmz, a brand of the Las Vegas-based LP Wheel Group, comes studded with 30 karats worth of diamonds trimmed with 10 ounces of 18-karat white gold.
All that bling comes with a hefty price tag: $150k (spitting distance of the Continental GT's $170,000 MSRP itself). That's what it takes to stand out at the SEMA show, where the shift knob will be unveiled this coming November.

I am well aware of the phrase: "If you have to ask, you won't understand..."
But I have to ask.
WHY?
minh @ Mar 5th 2007 10:56PM
that's just plain stupid. people will start hijacking bentleys for their knobs instead of the car, lol.
Big jim @ Mar 5th 2007 11:09PM
Bling=NO TASTE
Ken @ Mar 5th 2007 11:12PM
A rock and some bolt cutters, I'll be in and out in 15 seconds!

Diamonds are a GUL-able's best friend. Agree with #3, they have no taste, at least not what we call taste, but then, with enough money they make their own taste. Few would follow it.
Anybody can buy fashion, but taste you are born with.

They didn't say if the 150k tag includes a security guard

Take the Bentley logo off and it looks like an impulse item...you know, one of those things they have on racks by the register at auto parts stores.
carbuzzard @ Mar 6th 2007 5:27AM
One wonders if this will actually ever be installed in a car. Its sole purpose is getting ink, digital or the real stuff, for its maker. And so it did.

You are right carbuzzard, i dont think these or the diamond encrusted rims are actually meant to be sold and used, its more of just a bragging rights thing for the companies that make it much like most concept cars are bragging rights by the automakers basically a "Look what we can do" kind of thing.
Besides theres tastless things at all ends of the spectrum
workinwifdakids @ Mar 6th 2007 5:44PM
Anybody who buys this isn't looking for a knob.
He IS a knob.
sator @ Mar 9th 2007 2:35PM
dont let me see that parked on guarded! or its bye bye 150,000 grand! sorry bling heads!
Mitchell Conery @ Mar 9th 2007 2:47PM
I beleive the comment that #1 mean to state was - "If you have to ask the price then you can't afford it"
Tim @ Mar 9th 2007 3:03PM
If I had enough money to buy the Bentley, I wouldn't spend an additional 150K on the gearshift knob. I would use the money to help disabled vets.
WAYNE @ Mar 9th 2007 3:37PM
I WONDER IF THEY HAVE A KNOB THAT WILL FIT MY 1979 GREMLIN.I ALSO NEED A KNOB FOR THE MASTER BATH DOOR IN MY TRAILER.
Ren @ Mar 9th 2007 3:51PM
I'm sorry but that's stupid ! Just look around, in any city, look outside of the window and you will find a much better and wise way to spend this money.
Have a lot money it is a blessing, so do something good with that instead waste !@#$%^&*()_+ things
Bink @ Mar 9th 2007 3:57PM
I hear Ron Popeil is designing one for Ronco...$19.95...should be in the stores by Christmas...As Seen On TV
corey @ Mar 9th 2007 4:39PM
my family owns a Bentley Flying Spur and we got it for 205 grand. i guess the hip thing is to excessorize it and make it more than other peoples bentley's its an ego thing. our car has 6 TV's with direct tv on each 1. its useless. but its a kool thing. when you go that far. why not take that next step.
Michael Bierman @ Mar 9th 2007 4:42PM
#15 Wayne, that gave me a real laugh, thanks.
You have a great sense of humor. $150,000
would help a lot of vets and homeless.
Michael.
Edward @ Mar 9th 2007 4:55PM
You know how would "US AVERAGE JOES BE ABLE TO AFFORD THIS ITEM" it is stupid to even show this off cause you are going to get stupid racial comments like what we are seeing. But companies that are car related are going to spend over $1 billion in R&D and Prototypes this year alone that will not even make the market or will just flop.
what eva @ Mar 9th 2007 5:06PM
it sounds like # 14 has some hater and racism in his blood,it is a lot of stupid people that waste a lot of money on dumb things not just hip-hop black guys as # 14 said,i am sure if this idiot #14 could afford something dumb as this or what eva he may think is not dumb,he would buy it,remember 1 mans junk is another mans treasure
