There are cheap recalls and there are expensive recalls. Luckily for the Chrysler Group the current recall of 86,333 '06 Dodge Rams built between Nov. 7, 2005, and April 27, 2006 amounts to little more than adding grease to wheel bearings. Unfortunately for 2006 Ram owners if this issue is left unchecked it can lead to road noise and vibration and can eventually result in a loss of control and a crash. The folks over at Chrysler did a nice job of catching the issue early and publishing the recall without dragging their feet.
No cases of lost control have been reported due to the defect.

too bad its still a big POS. can you kiss DCX's ass any worse, autoblog?
Case in point:
"The folks over at Chrysler did a nice job of catching the issue early and publishing the recall without dragging their feet."
Might as well say, "golly gee, why we're so proud of Chrysler for having shared this with us! Can they BE any more trustworthy and reliable? Not like those silly asian brands! Thanks again, Chrysler! :) :) :) P.S. Please send us another car to 'review' for our Autoblog Garage feature. P.S.S. We love you!"

Re #1: Looks like the ebay/nigerian/in my spam folder scammers have hit Autoblog too, and with even worse English! Who figured it was even possible...
Anyway, I'm glad to see Chrysler is on top of things like this. Could've turned really ugly, considering the sheer number of Rams out there. Props to DCX.
david @ Feb 17th 2007 4:59PM
think that hondalover is old enough to drive? doubt it. third graders spell better than that.
is it possible dodge bought the wheel bearings from toyota tundra? how come dodge did'nt need a court order (toyota sludge) to fix this one?
only took three years for toyota to admit their ball joints had a problem.
oh yeah! ridgeline. now theres a real mans truck. (if you're a florist)
whofan @ Feb 17th 2007 6:18PM
If this were Toyota it would be yet another speical service campain.
Thanks Autoblog for treating Chrysler with respect.

Remember how many bloggers here praised DCX for being the good domestic company and how great all there product was and how they "got it". My how attitudes have changed. There is NOTHING in the Chrysler/Dodge lineup I would consider purchasing and its really sad because they did have alot of momentum with the 300 and Magnum. Too bad the burned it up by giving us the Compass, Caliber, Commander, Charger(wow, and though Ford's "F" thing was bad), Avenger, Dakota, and so on. The 300 was great but everything after has beed very disappointing and their inflated "sales" are just the cherry on top. Now they are for sale, probably to a Chinese company and Chrysler is in worse shape than GM (as long as GM does't buy them!) and Ford.

Hondalover, your continued praise for Japanese pieces of garbage is going to make m have to get stitches from splitting my sides laughing at your lame comments. As for the recall, I do not think this will help poor Chrysler save itself from whatever Daimler plans to do with it.
bobben @ Feb 17th 2007 8:57PM
As is actually pretty usual Dodge got the notice out with little fanfare, as one other said it didn't take a court order. Go ask some of the toyota/honda folks about how they hear about problems, glad I buy dodge - have three, and NO problems of any kind in 7 seven years !!! better than any of my associates who have the 'other brands'.. To bad DCX gets such a bad wrap..
RamSport47 @ Feb 17th 2007 9:38PM
If this were a Toyonda "recall"...all you people who think Dodge is bad for having this recall would be rejoicing that "at least Toyonda had the foresight to stop this before it got out of hand" Bobben, I too have Chrysler product(s), and have since 1983, and I keep buying them because they satisfy my needs without and problems, and people with toyondas ALWAYS look at me with their "competitive" car with lust in their eyes. Ask the guys with Civics that I blow off the map with my Neon

Just wanted to add my two cents worth. I recently switched from being a long time GM owner to a Dodge Ram and have no regrets. Yes, my next vehicle will be another Dodge Ram. Does this vehicle have quirks? Yes, but ALL vehicles have quirks and their own little issues, and I don't care if they are American, Japanese, or European. Something I have learned from working on vehicles for a long time.
whofan @ Feb 17th 2007 10:11PM
My 99 Grand Voyager has been the best vehicle I have owned.
tony @ Feb 17th 2007 10:41PM
u guys are so right that at least domestic automakers when they see problems they fix it WITHOUT COURT ORDER (TOyota sluding) or RELEASE SERVICE BULLETING CAMPAIGN (mmm TOYOTA again?). The point is you TOYOTA lovers, when ur car gets a problem you're on ur own and even when the problem is from the company. My brother had a Ford Escort (though it wasnt the best car i have seen) it was trouble-free until now with 150K and my sister who has a Camry have spent more than the value the vehicle for repairs .. thats why we always make fun at her that her beloved "very reliable" Toyota Camry isnt has reliable as the press pictures them to be.
sp @ Feb 17th 2007 11:21PM
lol. you guys are getting desperate...
First of all, was your sister's Camry 30 years old, and she had to change the oil?
Deezee @ Feb 18th 2007 12:07AM
I once ended up with a dodge ram pick up as a rental because the company had nothing left, and I needed something asap. So I said "fine" and took home that monstrosity.
Its literally the worst vehicle I've ever driven. Theres absolutely nothing I like about that contraption. Anybody who gets one of these and doesn't use it for work purposes is a moron. Plain and simple. If you're not hawling things, and you own one of these, you're a idiot of the highest order. Absolute junk.
dakota @ Feb 18th 2007 1:04AM

Actually your the idiot since you can't even spell correctly. Nice job!
Deezee @ Feb 18th 2007 1:49AM
Thanx 4 da zpelling lesson teach. Now go take your waste of space to Dodge to get worked on before it starts vibrating and flips over. Clown.
NoNameDenton @ Feb 18th 2007 3:03AM
Deezee, the waste of space is your comments and people like you who think you have a right to tell other people what they should drive, because you apparently think you know what should be driven and for what purpose, if someone wants to own a truck and not use it to haul things, that is their business not your own

And how old do you think the Escort was? If a Camry oil change costs more than the value of the car...I'll pass on it. A co-worker has a Camry...not sure what year...the ugly bubbly one (wait, they're all ugly), and that thing is in the shop ALOT, and they DO take care of it, the guy is anal about his cars.
Oh...what was "secong of all"?
RamSport47 @ Feb 18th 2007 8:13AM
DeeZee, sir, you are full of shit
far jr @ Feb 18th 2007 9:36AM
Man these foreign companies and thier recalls! Dodge now under the Diamler banner based in Germany and folks like to call them domestic. Foreign ownership and domestically produced ala Camry does not a domestic make. I like Dodge and Toyota for what it's worth, but niether is a domestic company.
